In Saranda, on Rruga Mitat Hoxha, a restaurant founded in 2022 is run by a family whose diver and fisherman brings in the wild catch from the Ionian, with grilled octopus, crudo and truffle pasta with prawns on the menu. A taverna in town cooks fish soup, calamari, spaghetti with mussels and seafood risotto, with lamb ribs for anyone not eating fish.
In Ksamil, a kitchen pairing Italian technique with Albanian cooking works through squid, sea bass, mussels and shrimp, raw oysters, paella and seafood towers for sharing. Between Saranda and Ksamil, on the shore of Lake Butrint, a mussel farm running since 1998 opened its restaurant in 2017; it serves its own mussels with the day's catch, runs guided boat tours of the mussel beds that end with a tasting, and lets wooden bungalows beside the water.
