Taxis in Saranda, from electric town cabs to private drivers and vans
Several of Saranda's taxis are electric. One company, in business since 2008, runs more than 15 electric cars for journeys inside and beyond the town, publishes fares per destination, background-checks and trains its drivers, and will move luggage on its own. A smaller service runs two electric cars with an English-speaking driver and card payments, covering city rides, airport and port transfers and tours.
Private drivers fill the rest. One driver takes up to four passengers in his own Mercedes, agrees each fare before the trip, meets cruise and ferry travellers at Saranda port and plans multi-day routes along the coast and inland. A family firm pairs an electric Volkswagen and a Toyota with a seven-seat van for groups, and accepts cards with a surcharge. Day tours reach Ksamil, Butrint, the Blue Eye and Gjirokastër, and some drivers go on to Porto Palermo, Himarë or Përmet.
